"In the summer of 1917, Depero was a guest of the Swiss poet Gilbert Clavel in Capri, and together they planned and worked on the production of the show "Balli Plastici", which was then performed in Rome in April 1918. Depero also created the images in a Futurist-Expressionist style in stark black and white for Clavel's book "Un istituto per suicidi". This drawing, (...) is one of the many that Depero dedicated in that period to the theme of ballet, and in this ballerina, (...) he recovers that decorativeness typical of the houses of South Tyrol, in particular of his hometown, Rovereto, which at the time was still Austrian.
